THE QUIZ NIGHT

Over 100 keen members, family and friends turned up to the Bellevue RSL hall to test their brain power against each other in the annual Rosehill Social Golf Club Quiz Night.

Competition was hot, with many “ring-ins” in the form of Professors, Teachers, and Doctors turning up to aid the “average” golfers in their quest.

Much fun was had with Table Quiz’s, Heads & Tails, Door Prizes, Raffles and Auctions Galore.  As always the guys at the club did not let us down, getting many fantastic prizes from some very generous sponsors and just about everyone went home with something.

The night wouldn’t be the same without such a great selection of goodies on offer, so a big thank you goes to everyone who helped out, either by getting prizes or helping set things up or packing things away.

In the main game the competition was very tight with a count back needed to separate the top two.  This year’s winner was club member Steven Matthews’s table of Noble Prize Winners, who scored 90 out of 100 (including their joker double up round).  Just missing out in 2nd were club members Hugh LeTessier and Peter Marriot, with their gang of Brainiacs and in third place much to everyone’s shock were the clubs young guns in Jarrod, Lyndon and Ryan (Killer).  Clearly it was the rest of their table who had the smarts J  Well played one and all.

FUN 10 PIN BOWLING NIGHT

46 members and guests turned up to the Morley Bowl on a freezing cold Friday night for another major Rosehill Social event for 2010.

3 games of ten pin bowling were the order of the evening with plenty of prizes on offer as team lined up against team as well as playing for the overall title of 2010 Rosehill Champions.

And those Champions were “Strikes R Us” who comprised of Richard & Deb along with Marty & Robyn, who (thanks to our secret Handicap scoring system) won the day with the highest team score.  Well done.

In the individual stakes, Sue Trewick was the best Female bowler over the three games with a series high of 414.  For the guys, it was Derek (where’s my towel) Russell who bowled a 490 series.  Individual highest game also went to Sue with a 166, while Jim Plowman bowled the best single game of the night with a 194.  At the other end of the list, prizes went to Jill Wishart and Manoj Fernado (TWFSL) who did their best but had the honour of bowling the lowest scores.

Thanks to all involved in making the night a success.  Pictures of the fun can be found here.

FUN LAWN BOWLS NIGHT

Nearly 40 members and guests turned up to the Bassendean Bowling club for the first major Social event of 2010.  The night started with a few drinks, followed by a great BBQ and then a night of lawn bowling.

The competitive nature was clear as players cheered on their team mates in an effort to take home first place.  And it was the team of Chris & Neil Buscumb (the missing “black wiggle”) along with Lyn & Jim Wyatt who took home the plenty of bottles of wine in first place, with runners up prizes going to Sharon & Derek Russell, with skipper extraordinaire Lou DiGregorio and the master bowler himself Muttiah Muralitharan, err, we mean Manoj Fernado!

Other prizes were handed out to “The Pres” who scored a Badminton set, as Robbo thought he’d stand more of a chance with that over lawn bowls.  Churchy scored a cricket set to practive his bowling at home and Manoj got a poker set???

The Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeel of Misfortuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune made another expensive appearance, which meant we all could hand dirt on Robbo, which is half the fun!!!

Seriously, well done to Robbo and the Social Committee for arranging a great fun night out.  Also a big thank you to club member Grant Stokes for helping organise the event through his beloved Bassendean Bowling Club.  We’re all looking forward to the next one.

See the Pictures here.

2010 Social News #1

2010 see’s a whole new Social calendar, to be organized by the new Social Secretary Dave “Robbo” Robertson, who is assisted by his band of “Merry Men”.  These guys are working on ways to make the Social side of the club even more fun.

After game activites will get an injection and there are also plans to hold more functions during the year that will be open to members and partners and will be subsidised by the club, so you will not paying full price.

The same will apply to this year’s wind up with a small charge per ticket applying, as we want to spread the funds around at other events, rather than blowing it all at once.

But don’t worry, the wind up will still be of the same high standard that we’ve come to enjoy, plus how can we ever forget the now infamous player’s revue!!!  Guys’ are lining up already to show us their talents this year.  Check out some photo's here

Other functions planned include a Lawn Bowls night in April, the Quiz Night mid year and possibly a trip to the Trots or similar, which are still in the pipeline.  We are also throwing in a few BBQ’s along the way and don’t forget the weekend away, which will be on November 12, 13 & 14 in the Bunbury region.

Meet the 2010 Social Committee

Robbo's band of "Merry Men' are tasked with both fund raising and reating enjoyable social events, both after the game and at special times during the year.  If you have any idea's that you may think will be of interest, please don't hesitate to speak to one of them.

Robbo, Anthony, Ryan, Derek, Dennis & Manoj.

Keep coming back to this page for the finer details as the events get closer.

Should you have any ideas or suggestions as to where you would like some of these functions to be held at, please click on this link info@rosehillsgc.com
